Bharat Sikka combines the curiosity of a tourist with the empathic sensitivity of a local, to create an idiosyncratic depiction of contemporary India.

The body of work Matter, features a series of images in a variety of formats that blend studio, street, landscape and portrait photography into a portrait of the “new” India. Sikka has exhibited this body of work as both gallery and outdoor installations, on walls in urban environments.
